A defensive vanilla with awesome art. Not much else to see here.

Do not underestimate this guy. He can take down Niv-Mizzet (well, one of them) and live to tell the tale.

Well, at least it has excellent art...

He has two of the most powerful tribal tags in the game, at the very least.
Could find a home in someone's pauper knight or elf deck, as any buffs whatsoever make this guy pretty sweet for just five mana.

I'm actually okay with this. As long as they stop printing vanilla cards like Renegade demon (with 5/3 for 5 cmc) and keep the formula as 5cmc for 4/6 (maybe 7) or 5/5 or 6/3. In fact I use them to teach new players a lot. They can be fun.

This would have been nice, with a bit of Vigilance. I wouldn't be completely dissappointed to use it in a sealed deck pool, though.

I've always love the combination of elves and wolves ever since the early Ravnica days (ie Tolsimir). This didn't make me love them any lesser. As for the card, it's power/toughness corresponds it's mana cost, so it's a fair card. Nothing exceptional, but not to be underestimated in a casual or restrictive setting (draft or sealed)

Don't be fooled by the vanillaness. This is the secret combination of CMC and P/T that surreptitiously wins games.

The art is a 5/5. As a card, though, I'll give it 3/5. Decent P/T for the cost and relevant creature types.

It's sad that he's a vanilla, but 4/6 for 5 mana isn't too shabby. 3/5

Vanilla common with good art and fair stats. Nothing magnificent, but nice.
such a shame he's not a 5/5. could have been one memorable elf for Naya power. really, such a shame.

With giant wurms and wolf riders, the hippie guild somehow manages to be the most badass guild in Ravnica.

I expect a lot better than a 4/6 for 5 in two colors. This is...a really boring card, with no synergy with its guild.

It's amazing how a card this simple can serve so many purposes.
In Limited, it's solid curve-filler that'll demand removal, even without evasion,
In Pauper, he's a valuable member of two very significant tribes,
And for casual games with new players, he's simple enough to teach them the benefits of playing multicoloured decks.
Not to mention he does it all with gorgeous art, courtesy of Matt Stewart. Lovely common.

I just don't get this card flavor wise. Why is it so dang big? It's an elf sitting on top of an unusually large wolf. Seems like it should be a 2/2 or a 2/3 or something, but 4/6!?! Every time I look at this card my initial reaction is WTF???

@Hercynian: First of all, Renegade Demon is black. This one is white/green. Black does not get as efficient creatures (at least Power/Toughness wise) as green or white. Secondly, this card is multicoloured, while Renegade Demon is monocoloured. That also factors in on the efficiency, as multicoloured is harder to cast than monocoloured. It's like another poster once said; "it's as if people on Gatherer don't know what kind of creatures colors other than Green get".
It ain't that bad...I mean it's a 5/5 for 5CMC that exchanged one point of aggressiveness for defense. In my opinion that's a solid common, nothin to complain about.
