I ran these with Pestilence back in the day. Quite a tidy little combo back before we had good black mass removal.

Great in multiplayer thanks to the oracle upgrade. O.o The original text says target opponent, which implies you would have had to choose a target as you cast this card... Now, It's pretty beastly in chaos, actually.

I love everything about this card, visually. The art of course, but the old gold frame, the Mirage expansion symbol, even the BG in the mana cost, they all just evoke a wonderful nostalgia. The card itself is pretty fun too.

One of the first rares I got in my first pack ever, along with Catacomb Dragon, and Null Chamber.

Mannnnn, it's weird and awesome card art like this that made moms everywhere look over their kids' shoulders in the 90s and gasp with terror, rushing out to tattle to the Fun Nazis. It's fun to look back.

Yeah, what's up with the inconsistent Oracle interpretation of "target opponent" (and sometimes just "(your) opponent")? Black Vise and many others work differently.

Edit 2.5 years later: Ah, I forgot about Iron Maiden and Wheel of Torture. Those account for Black Vise and The Rack preserving their restriction, at least.
