Overall though he's the same power as sengir vampire for one extra mana, about the same usefulness in terms of creature type. So for casual I give him 4/5

Neat card, can block or attack into 7/7s and live to tell the tale. Even better? Blocking a 7 trample, none of it will get through.
Stacks well with damage reduction effects.
Great for bluffs as if you run virulent swipe you can not only live through a giant blocker, but you can eat it alive; making him very dangerous to block. Blocking with multiple creatures also halves all of their power, making it require 8 total power; again, making deathtouch appealing for a multi-block.
