At least from a Timmy perspective, this would be pretty much the perfect Dragon if you could just get rid of that tap symbol. That one difference would let you attack and breathe in the same turn, not to mention remove multiple creatures at once. For nine mana, plus more for the actual creature-kill, I don't see a balance issue with that.

It's a neat little card, but as has been said before Flameblast Dragon is just so much better. It's functionally the same thing, but you get to attack with the other card. Unless you had an infinite mana combo or something and you didn't want to use fireball this wouldn't serve much of a purpose.

Way too costly. You can either kill a creature or attack for 6. It should have had the ability be non-tapping. Even then I'd take 2 off the cost.

The card that introduced "Hellkite" into the Magic lexicon. Since then, it's proven to be a flavorful, lasting alternative to simply calling something a dragon in its name.

As for the card itself, this was quite overcosted, even for its day. Because it taps to use its ability, it means you sacrifice an attack to do so. But nevertheless, it's not a bad idea - it basically has a red removal spell stapled onto it. But this definitely was something that got the Timmies excited when they cracked open a pack.

I'll find a use for you, you stupid card that I only ever managed to play once in my life! Just hold on another decade or so!
