So, the answer to the riddle is apparently fire....

But fire 'lives' by consuming fuel, so that doesn't make sense. Stands without leg... is just silly, sure fire has a vertical element, but that's bad semantic play, not clever, though not technically wrong. And fire doesn't wound without a force; the heat being released is a force, resulting from the release of chemical energy stored in the fuel. Well, I might not be right on that point technically.... But bleagh! what a bad riddle. Is it not just as difficult to kill a forest fire (snuff it) as to fight it?

Boring card, sick art.

Amidst the amusing riddle and weird art, a 5/2 wall is pretty darn good.

The answer to the riddle is "Words."
The words of great men live on long after they have died.
if your word is your bond, then it has to stand.
your words can wound feelings and reputations.
and while you can kill words by just closing your mouth, once a word (especially a lie) is spoken, it could take forever to reverse what was said and the damage it did.

The answer to the riddle is "a blistering barrier." It's a wall creature, and "living" despite being inanimate. It stands (as a wall) despite lack of legs. It wounds without force, because the heat of its presence alone does damage. It's harder to fight than kill because engaging it is about as stupid as rushing into a bonfire, while there are numerous less direct ways to kill 2 toughness, immobile wall.

Also, of the 2 card art pieces by David Ho, this is by far the better one.

In terms of function, this is an interesting red defender that must have inspired Torpid Moloch and M12's Wall of Torches. These kinds of "walls" have the ability to trade for lots of more expensive and valuable things in Limited, and often force the wasting of valuable removal on these creatures. They're not horrible per se, and can be useful for teaching new players the significance of blocking in many circumstances.

My answer to the riddle is...hunger.
The artwork is of a mouth.
"I live without food" is what makes hunger possible
"stand without leg" means hunger can affect anybody
"wound without force" means hunger hurts with time and not actual external force
"and am harder to fight than to kill" feeding only fights hunger for so long, dying simply kills it forever

Who needs to block creatures when your opponent has lost his/her sanity just by looking at this art?

A lot of "hyperrealist", super detailed modern artworks disappear against the strength of this one.

My favorite flavour text. It has that classic Dungeons&Dragons feel to it.
