phasing is cool and i think that makes this worth it. also deciding if you have flying or not is nice sometimes.

The ability to swap flying and non-flying is actually quite tactical in situations where the opponent plays a spell that hits either flying or non-flying creature (Earthquake or Hurricane). The phasing ability is also good at evading removal spells when needed.

definately hard to kill. wrath? phase out. earthquake? flying. hurricane? not fying. blocked by a bigger creature? phase out.

Ah this is one of my top 5 favorite Dragons. I just hate how its underrated. Almost everyone I know says this card is crap just because he is a 4/4 instead of a 5/5. I still put him in my mono blue side deck.

Needs a reprint for the artwork's sake.
Phasing is great but 5 cmc is too expensive.

I remember reading in an Inquest back in the day that this guy was part of some infinite combo, using his two abilities ad finitum. Unfortunately, I can't remember what other card was involved. >.>
Definitely a great creature. 6 CMC 4/4 Flier in blue is great, and he can gain or lose flying whenever it suits you.
…when does it phase back in? It doesn't have phasing.

Not to be a spoilsport, but c'mon, I doubt anyone has ever played a game in which they were able to dodge a Hurricane and an Earthquake with this (for one thing, what kind of a deck runs both, for another, what opponent would attempt to kill it that way?)
On the other hand, there's probably some delight to be had in spamming the abilities back and forth whenever an opponent passes priority. In multiplayer you could signal approval or disapproval of each play by Flying/NotFlying.

for years, this has been my favorite art on any magic card... for a while now, memory erosion has been my favorite flavor on any magic card...

@DJCH1LL813: From the Comprehensive Rules:
702.24a Phasing is a static ability that modifies the rules of the untap step. During each player's untap step, before the active player untaps his or her permanents, all phased-in permanents with phasing that player controls "phase out." Simultaneously, all phased-out permanents that had phased out under that player's control "phase in.".
So any phased-out permanent phases in on the untap step, whether it actually has phasing or not.

Very interesting. I always love blue dragons, and this is no exception. Primarily because it's notably evasive, even if it's a bit pricey.

Man, if only that CMC and phasing cost were each less. It would have made my Wrath of God/Blinking Spirit/Bounce deck so much more playable.

Probably the best one in the cycle, but still kind of weak. The phasing cost is a bit high, too.

A flying creature that knows how to land? What madness is this?

How is this nice dragon not an illusion like cloud dragon? It follows the quintessential qualities of an illusionary creature in art, functions and concept, also this will rule so hard with Lord of the Unreal if an illusion. Ertai's Familiar is also an illusion with a phasing ability.

Poor Rydia - the death of this thing, her mother's Eidolon, was only the beginning of her nightmare. Dark knights are such creeps at times. Huh, Cecil?
