Ah, lifegain has progressed. Now we have Rest for the weary in mono white. Bad mechanics at least get more efficient :)

So broken it has to come into play tapped!

Now that Elixir of Immortality is out this card is pretty weak.

I like the idea of different costs getting you different amounts of life but lifegain cards from back in the day were all way overcosted. Seriously they should take another stab at this idea.

@ Blazer_Dawg: *Before* Elixir of Immortality was out, this was pretty weak.

Unfortunately, no elixir can cure flat face syndrome. Only a boot to the head can fix that.

Wizards really overestimated the power of colorless life gain back in the day, it would seem.

Card itself isn't much to write home about but the flavour text is hilarious! I think I'll slip one to a deck just for that.

I love the math in this. You can pay 4 mana for 4 life, very *** deal. BUT wait good sir, I have another deal for you! If you ramp your mana, you can pay 12 (!) mana for... 8 life... so if you go to the difficulty of spending 12 mana in total, you get LESS for each mana, than when you only spend 4... I understand why this merchant died, I think it was the flavourtext author's comment on how *** this card is. Did it really need to come into play tapped?
