allllmost strictly worse then Martyr of Sands. only better when you don't want humans in your deck.you have less then 1 white card in your hand all the times you want to activate. you don't want to pay a colorless mana.

More useful for the fact that it sacrifices itself than for the fact that it gains life. Try it with Unruly Mob and Thraben Sentry, for instance.
