Sure you can sac that eldrazi spawn. I don't mind a bit

Hibron: they would just sac the token in response if you targeted a spawn, that's a terrible idea.

If you put it on an opponent's creature, you'll still have to find a way to kill it, and if you have to use a removal spell to do that, that means you've spent two cards to draw two cards, which nets you zero. However, it's not a bad way to make your opponent think twice before removing one of your creatures.

enchant a creature you can sac (how hard is that to find in black?) or use it to shield a valuable creature you control. your opponent will be facing a tough choice - allow the threat to live or give you 2 cards.

4/5, wonderful card

Black Draw :D

@Baconradar

Uh... this is kind of Alliances. Homelands hasn't been part of Ice Age block since Cold Snap was released.

ChristmanEric pointed out something I hadn't thought of - put it on a good creature so the opponent will have to make a tough choice about whether they want to Lightning Bolt it.

Aha. I hadn't thought of this as creature protection. There's a good reason to read the forums.

they should have let you keep all three cards. it's really pretty decent as creature protection, like false demise. although, each one is pretty bad when you could otherwise have a deck filled with more useful cards that you would have drawn otherwise. plus, it could get totally screwed up if they're using swords to plowshares or something else that exiles your creatures.

Good card in something like a sac creature/soul exchange kinda deck.

Certainly one of the best from homelands.

Edit: Oh snap, it isn't from homelands at all. I was looking at two cards at once and got confused. It still isn't a bad card though.

Works wonders in my pauper madness/Adnate/graveyard deck. Pretty underrated in my opinion.

I contend that this card is actually pretty bad. You're not actually getting any card advantage: 3 cards drawn - 1 discard - the creature killed - the enchantment itself = 0, no net gain. So it's pretty much just card selection that you have to jump through hoops to get.

On Card Advantage:
- Neutral- assuming you can kill it without using another card (I.E. it chump blocks or something)
- 1 Disadvantage - If you use a kill spell it's card disadvantage
- Neutral - If instead you use it on your own creature you'll spend 2 and discard 1
- 1 Advantage - Draw out a kill spell successfully on your own creature
- 1 Disadvantage - (the typical issue with countering auras.)

That all said, it does happen to provide useful card filtering (like a decent brainstorm or some such) but it's conditional, sorcery speed, and costs {2} more. IMO it's usable for filtering, but black has better draw, Sign In Blood and it's kin guarantee card advantage without all of the restrictions, phyrexian arena, dark confident, and similar can also help you here.

Similar to burn or bounce decks, black typically needs *advantage* to keep going due to all of the discard/sacrifice mechanics, so IMO, i'd rather nab something that provides that.

But! Similar to what I've said elsewhere on sorcery-speed things, Leyline of Anticipation can turn this into a slightly better Altar's Reap.

Compare to a card like Bequeathal, or Skullclamp. I do like how black the flavor is, though, and the discard could prove useful (for example, in reanimator decks).

Best on your own creatures that you planned on killing anyways. Essentially a slower Altar's Reap that gets an extra card.

Also you have to provide your own sac outlet but honestly, it can't be that hard to find one. Just ram it into your opponent's creatures.
