I love this card! Of course it fizzles sometimes, but while doing that it removes a lot of cards I don't want to draw anyway. It's not restricted either.

Too bad the effect will end sooner rather than later if you try to keep going on, since you'll most likely end up with two lands of the same name.

Even if the effect ends before you get the card you want, it's still that much closer to that card, and you remove all the obstacles that's not useful for current situation. Good card, but will take decision to use.

It's kind of nice along with something like Field of Dreams or Future Sight. You may not get what you want, but at least you won't get the shaft.
Plus, it's fairly reliable in Highlander formats, especially in a deck with a large amount of nonbasics.
Since it doesn't count as drawing, you can use this after Shared Fate and drain your library...much to your opponent's dismay.

Hmm. Now to build a commander deck with only one Swamp, just so I can have another copy of Demonic Tutor.

have to be played with a lot of non basic lands... Probably a lot of two color producing even if you are running mono black just to reduce the chance of being stuck with two swamps. Solid card anyway.

Laboratory Maniac. Run a deck of 1 ofs (might be a bit hard with lands).
EDH Platinum. Run only one of each basic and this may as well be Demonic Tutor #2.

Put this in a deck full of 1-of's with one exception: You can have two of these. If you're casting one, you know there's only one other one you could run into, and you draw it that much more. Of course, that doesn't work in commander, but other than that. It's been a fun card for a UB vintage deck I ran it with.
