Make your blocking Ambush Party even more effective by letting them pop out of Aliban's Towers! A 6/2 first striking blocker takes out everything this side of Marjhan.

The flavor of this is truly confusing to me. Does the tower just spring up around the defender? Since this is an instant, it must to surprise anyone. A lame combat trick that would have been much better for attacking creatures.

"OK, so Aliban's tower. Sounds good, a cool land from Homelands, possibly legendary, it draws you cards or something like that, right? Oh, it's a a combat trick with a drawback? Well, strong combat tricks were not so common back then, I guess +3/+1 isn't that bad back in the day. At least it's not strictly much worse than anything printed back then... oh, Giant Growth.

If you think Homelands isn't a good set, you don't truly understand the power held within it. Why else would they make Apocalypse Chime?

Because they knew that an all Homelands deck would be so strong, there needed to be a card you could carry at the ready to destroy the power of the Homelands.

Homelands...the best set in MtG.
