This card was a shoo-in for flavor reasons, but alas, it still sucks.
To put this in perspective, you're effectively paying just to exile the top card of your library - and you still have to pay its mana cost if you want to play it. And you're limited to this turn, otherwise it vanishes forever. Looks like Niv-Mizzet put more time into making it look pretty than into making it actually work.

In this or perhaps any other deck, I would much rather have another Island or Mountain than this POS. Even with Ponder or whatever you want to stack the top card, at best you're still looking at effectively 6CMC to draw and cast lightning bolt. Blech!

Svogthos, the Restless Tomb totally outclasses this card by far.

It'd be much more interesting if it was somewhat like Mikokoro, Center of the Sea, and make you draw a card or so.

I would play this card with Future Sight , Future sight is good on its own
and if you can happen to do the bonus spell ...then go for it ...or just mill useless cards away
to reveal another.

Very situational. Its useful if you have no plays, or are holding counters. Tap + this land to pop your lightning bolt or brainstorm. Need 6 lands and some luck, not unheard of.

No, that would be crazy for a control deck. Control likes holding mana anyways, so thats close to a land + a one sided howling mine. :Draw a card, might be okay.

Although terrible in almost every format, it works well in EDH late game. I'll take any form of repeatable card advantage in that format.
