Interesting card, but I really don't get the flavor. What does an angry dog have to do with gaining life? Does it feast upon the flesh of its victims, then feed it to its controller?

I kind of want to see a Butcher Clowns card in the third set of this block now.

...What in the hell is Rakdos doing with lifelink? They don't give two *** about their life!

maybe the lifelink comes from him eating the faces of his victims? Otherwise I don't know. What a weird ability on a rakdos creature.

Ragemutt is a good name for a dog. Probably a tiny dog, with their inferiority complexes.

Although the flavor doesn't make too much sense to me yet either, pros like me have to admit that haste and lifelink are a pretty sweet combo.

Card would stink in Constructed- until you remember RAKDOS exists.
I would cautiously suggest that "Paincast" is Wizards of the Coast trying to fix Affinity by making a powerful, but not Overpowerful, cost reduction ability. This could be interesting! :D

What a killer in sealed. I never had a good answer in w/b, and every b/r opponent I played dropped this guy on turn 5. It was a long day.

Sucks. By the time you have 5 mana to cast him, haste doesn't matter. 4 mana for a 3/3 lifelink/unleash and he would be worthwhile.

I don't know what Limited games you play in, Domak, but haste rarely doesn't matter when you play it right. Turn 5 or 6, when you and your opponent have been racing, if your opponent has been playing planning for you to attack - cast a creature - pass, suddenly adding something that's both hasty (so it affects combat a turn sooner than he expected) and lifellinky (so you're changing the race math) is pretty big.
Though I agree that unleash would be welcome on this card. It would work well with Lifelink, and more importantly, there's the fact that you'd be unleashing a hound. C'mon, Wizards, you missed the chance at a pun with unleash and this being a dog? Shame.

I wonder if the faeries the flavor text is talking about are the Wee Dragonauts?

I'm giving this card a 5/5, simply because it is the first creature to have, without condition, both lifelink AND haste.
Is it just me or do the Rakdos sound like some horribly twisted version of juggalos?

This is the Rakdos Centaur Healer, excpept even better for limited. If you have something with scavenge then putting it on this guy gives you a crazy bomb.

@Domak 4 mana for a 3/3 lifelink & unleash would be utterly insane in limited for an uncommon... No one would give a second thought to unleashing him. He doesn't need to block if he's already bringing in 4 life a turn. And swinging for 4. That's a potential 8 life difference each turn.
I am confused as to why this has lifelink, though... Perhaps they thought 3/3 unleash & haste would be too strong and had to change it last minute?

limited gold. i was playing a weak azorious flier deck and couldn't deal enough damage to compensate for the life gain with the amount of damage from the unleashed bastards me friend was playing.

By themselves, many cards suck. I think this is uncommon as it is meant to be played in a Guild deck. If you had Rakdos, Lord of Riots in play & had already slapped an opponent for 3 damage; this guy would only cost BR (2 CMC), which is not bad and could even be FTW or a game changing play.

Upon learning that there's something like a zombified faerie that rides a chariot pulled by a dog and presumably wears clown makeup associated with black/red, I solemny terminate my allegiance to that color combination.

Is it just me or does this seem like it's be a reasonably competitive Standard card, if it were different colors, Boros or maybe Gruul?

To me, 0/5 for the flavor of the mechanics. Lifelink, in Rakdos? Really? What sort of bloody carnival of gore and pain has healing? If there was going to be healing, I'd want a card that did something along the lines of healing both players for a brief time, before taking away far more life than was gained. I could see the Rakdos using healing if it meant they could cause that much more carnage. 4/5 for the flavor text. Butcher Clowns. Now THAT'S Rakdos. 1/5 for usability. No synergy with the rest of the guild, and not particularly strong or useful for it's cost. 4/5 for art.
I'll give it a 2/5 overall.
