Seriously, why? Just run Murder if you want to destroy something. The added discard isn't worth it for six mana.

Yeah, this is just too expensive. Then again, even cards like Public Exectuion were still useful enough in M13 draft.

Waitaminute...it's a sorcery? What.

I dig the art though, such a tiny tiny dagger to kill a man like the dainty assassin she is.

I am a pro and I rated this card 5/5. Part of being a pro is seeing things in cards that others cannot see. Some see a card that is expensive. I see that 6 mana is a small price to pay to kill their best creature and discard a card from their hand. At this point in the game, the card they are most likely discarding is their bomb. 2 for 1-ing your opponents is how pros like me get so many victories.

Too expensive. Make it four mana and give it instant.

Well, at the point in the game when this will be played a bomb is likely the only thing left in hand. So I would rate this card alittle higher. 2 for 1 is pretty good card economy after all and limited is all about card economy and to in the best possible way use your resources.

It's a good thing this is uncommon, because you don't want to see it every other pack. This is a draft mid-pick out of a weak pool at absolute best.

The thing with Public Execution that made it great in limited was the "I'ma kill this guy. You all best behave, now". It was the closest thing black had to Fog.

Do you remember Mental Agony? Do you remember how dangerous discarding was in a draft? No?

Then Assassin's Strike won't even see limited play.

Ugh, couldn't they just have reprinted Hex? This is embarrassing. -_-;

6 mana and not an instant?!

There's a reason why discard spells are almost never at instant speed.

I think this card was put in to test drafters; MTG needs bad cards as well as good ones to separate the bad and good players.

Perhaps this was the end result of some bet to see if it was possible to make a terrible removal card without being too obvious about it. Twice the cost of Murder at half the speed! But they discard a card... who cares? Blah... This thing could have destroyed 2 creatures instead of 1 and still seen little play.

What were Wizards thinking when they made this card?! To make it uncommon too is just insane. And in a bad way.

This is an uncommon?

Wish he were less expensive. Then again, assassins are costly, and the-guild-which-shall-not-be-named needs recruits.

2.5/5. Removal with card advantage for 6. Overcosted. Effective in a removal lite limited environment.

Rough story. Even in an aggro deck with late-game slots open looking to synergize off discards and hand destruction--the perfect place for this--it's still just not worth the cost.

Lets see. Lets add 3 to the cost and reduce it to sorcery speed, and see what we can add to it.

A single discard effect? Really? That's it?

2BlackBlack would have made it playable and a good uncommon.

I would still play this in a budget ramp deck. 6 Mana is not that hard to ramp into, and your taking out a threat plus removing a threat in hand. There is a good chance they will not have a land in hand at this point.

Is it too expensive? Of course. Can it still work? Most definitely.

Unconditional removal for 6 mana is never bad--even at sorcery speed.
Time has shown that any removal is better than no removal. This sort of card is more than fine if you have access to a limited card selection and your options are few.

2.5/5 - acceptable removal in limited / possible inclusion in newbie casual decks

Removal is removal in limited. It doesn't matter what effects it has or what it costs. If this is pack 3 in RtR booster draft you'll be grabbing this higher than you'd think if you're not flooded with removal. (which never happens if the people you're playing with are good at all)

I LIKE that they're printing cards from a guild that isn't supposed to be in this set. I really do.

But why the hell doesn't it have the Dimir watermark? The original Ravnica sets had this same problem, and it carried over.

For this price, I should get the whole hand.
