Why does this card have such a high rating?! Why?!

If you're running enough card draw (like a necropotence) this thing lets you replace your glut of lands with nice and useful spells, it'll win you the late game.

Blue usually doesn't get access to its graveyard, or at least not this directly. It would be playable if it were an instant, to snatch back counterspells and whatnot, but as a sorcery, meh....

Blue graveyard manipulation is pretty uncommon. Costly to be sure, but, you do what you gotta do, right? "I'll be taking back all those boomerangs and counterspells now, thank you very much."

Doesn't matte that it's sorcery as you want to get those controll cards back for the opponents main phase.

Well, the thing is, you definitely want to cast this during your opponent's turn, specifically their end step, but seeing as it's a sorcery you can't.
I personally think that, while expensive, this card would still be amazing worth it if it had instant speed.

@SquirePath: If you really think instant-speed is that necessary, you could always just use Quicken and Leyline of Anticipation.

With the old wording you could have no cards in hand and get the ones in your graveyard back without having to discard. Damn oracle errata

@shotoku64: You are wrong. With the old wording you also had the old rulings, which said that things worded "Do aaaa to do bbbb" mean that if aaaa is not done, bbbb is not done either. The keyword is the word to. If it were worded "Discard X cards and take X cards from your graveyard to your hand", then you could get cards with an empty hand to begin with, even with the old rulings.
It's funny how some people comment to old card texts without knowing the rulings of that time.
