The concept is well-meant, but i'd rather play a tribal deck which is provided with an accordant card at a cheaper cost than playing a "generic tribal lord" with an overly high cost.

it's a changeling general...
or a goat general....
or a wurm general....
or a wall general (does that exist already?)

He's not a generic lord, as only the few lords from apocalypse can funnel you more creatures. If you manage to draw 3 or 4 cards off of him I don't think you would feel he is generic.

Also I enjoyed artifacts with this border so much more, he fits this border much better.

Adaptive Automaton is probably better most of the time.
The potential drawing shouldn't be overlooked, it can be great.
More playable in a Golem deck as he will be a 3/3.

I like him, good card. Nice art, fits well to the frame. A tad expensive maybe, but still: he buffs and draws cards, supporting weaker creature tribes in tribal decks.

Of course, in a golem tribal deck he is best, since he then buffs himself and can draw more copies of himself.

A must-have for your tribal Brushwagg deck! And don't pretend you do not have one! It is each and every Magic player's dirty little secret. Yes, even those who began playing five minutes ago and don't even have any idea what a Brushwagg is. Poor bastards.

Due to the oracle text, I took this over using Captivating Vampire, Ghostly Flickered it, then used its ability for vampires. My opponent just stared.

Costs to much mana. But 6 is definitely attainable, and this guy boosts your army while refilling your hand.
