Perfect for multiplayer. You knock out the creature terrorizing everyone, and give the struggling player an extra 5 life. It forges alliances and allows for diplomacy!

Sure, multiplayer is probably the ONLY useful case. Otherwise, it's awful. For 3 specific colored mana, there should be NO drawback ! (1/5)
Tamanoa makes this a little better. Then you and an opponent gain 5 life, and you get to distribute 5 damage how you choose amongst their creatures which is nothing to scoff at.

Alright, in all seriousness this is an actually solid card. Selectively sweeping their side of the board is definitely worth the price of giving them 5 life. Especially now that their best creatures are gone which will allow you to swing in for more than 5 damage with the team. Giving them life gain isn't nearly as bad as you think. Swords to plowshares is the holy grail of spot removal and nature's claim is seeing side board play in standard.
This card let you do 5 divided as you please. Already it is good enough. Any synergy with kavu predator or punishing fire is just gravy.

At first I thought it said: "Target player gains 5 life." So I was like, why am I not playing this? Then I reread it and got all frowny-faced.

I used to run this card constantly back in the day. Definitely a fave.

Not very good for burn to the face, but being able to kill your opponent's board is REALLY powerful. 5 life is a pittance in comparison
