One day, Wizards will print an amazing Griffin... maybe... some day...

Hooray, the tradition of lackluster griffins lives on!

An old Assault Griffin now with first strike. Good for common, but there are more playable cards for 5 mana.

Wizards never did it's griffin artists any justice, and they likely never will.

Why they don't let me have a white Phantom Monster? Am I a bad person or what? Or why didn't they reprinted the Shepherd Of The Lost as a griffin? People must know what WotC is doing to the griffins! Stop the madness‼

So in every set since m12 there has been an overcosted griffin and a limited bomb mythic rare dragon that is useless in constructed. interesting.

This card needs more respect. A 3/2 flying first strike kills a very large percentage of the set. And at common, too.

This guy gets defused by so much in limited.

You laugh--"Worse than Plover Knights! And Shepherd of the Lost!" It's all about the Limited environment, and in a set without much first strike or removal and plenty of tiny fliers, this guy is a sweet bomb that can hold off armies. My opponent had him and Thalia out--how do I get through five power of first strike? It took turns and turns until I drew an out.

One of DKA's best white commons, no joke. Griffin be hungry.

I've won games in Limited thanks to its size and first strike, but it is still awful. Plover Knights is flat out superior with 1 more toughness and a creature type that was more meaingful at the time. Depressing example of power decline post-Mirrodin.

Strictly worse than so many things, yet I can't stop trying to put it somewhere...

Actually, there are good griffins. This guy is not one of them outside of limited, but they do exist:

Diving Griffin is good and a great target for equipment or enchantments, and Fledgling Griffin might not actually have flying all the time but he's a great 2-drop for creatures that are normally 4 CMC and higher. And then there's Griffin Sentinel, and of course the non-griffin Griffin Rider. Maybe that's not a whole lot of options, but it's enough for a deck. I made a griffin deck and I can tell you, it was really fun and had an average goldfish win on turn 7, which isn't that bad.

I feel like this was a really good opportunity to finally make a good or interesting griffin. The fact that Wizards missed that opportunity makes this griffin even more disappointing than most others.

This card is horrid. Voiceless Spirit costs 2 less and gets the job done in limited much more efficiently.

Aw, at the mana cost of a Serra Angel, they should have at least given it vigilance or some relevant ETB effect.

I think I'd rather see something like a Miss Demeanor. (maybe a less silly drawback)

It's a good card left in the shadows of banslayer angel looks like trash. back in the day, this probably would've been a rare. e.g. Angel of Retribution ... Then again, maybe not. At least it still has potential in pauper, maybe.
