Costs far too much to activate.

Can't believe this is a rare. Only good for limited and even then a bit too costly.

Royal Assassin.

The only way that this would have been any good is if the tap ability and the destroy ability did not require it to tap and even then, it would cost far too much.

Too costly abilities, bad art, should've been monoblack, royal is so much better, but this is an old card so it's not that strange.

This is why you don't use people with huge brain tumors for hitmen: they're too slow.

poor stalking assassin. Deathbringer Liege just texted me and told me that he's way better than you, at everything. sorry.

When buying cards online, some will never be seen listed as "played" condition. Take this Stalking Assassin for example...

Er, if you need to tap him to tap others, AND to kill tapped guys, doesn't he seem a bit...awful?

Invasion sure had some atrociously bad rares. This, Phyrexian Lens, Meteor Storm, the entire leech cycle..

This is the kind of assassin at whom royalty just scoffs. No wonder it's so bad.

Opponents turn: TAP target creature that you really want to either, stop it's abilities or, kill in your turn.
Your turn: Kill tapped creature.

This almost guarantees you will kill the creature you want. It also means the opponent cannot hold back with thier creatures until they get rid of him.
Old card that I think works well with this is Norritt but there's probably something better now-a-days as they are both costly and weak...

Underestimated card.

Can tap an attacker on their turn, preventing damage, then blow it up on your turn. Repeatable removal on one card is worth 4 mana sink.

I agree with TheWrathofShane to a certain amount. I do not think the card should be as put down as it has been with it being able to repeatedly remove and/or stop damage from creatures. I gave it a 2.5 just simply due to the fact that other older cards such as the Royal Assassin need no mana to destroy tapped cards in conjunction with using the card itself. I do not think that the card deserves it's current ~1.9 mark.

Great, a pudgy stalker wearing a bathrobe.

The extra 3 on each ability is just unnecessary.
Without that, it would have been decent.

Like that, they could at least have removed the tap requirement from the cost, so you could at least savely kill a creature for 6BlueBlack (or 7BlueBlueBlackBlack in total).

Or did they hate the artwork so much they decided in the last moment to add the colorless off-the-charts extra mana requirement to turn it unplayable to make sure players won't have to look at this too often?
