Actually one of my favorite vanilla commons. The game needs creatures like this after all.

I've always loved the art on this.

Let's propose neat abilities for the vanilla creatures that get printed in each new core set. Who knows, a bored Wizards developer may happen upon one...

When Vastwood Gorger attacks, you may exile a land you control consumed by Vastwood Gorger.
At the beginning of your upkeep, Vastwood Gorger gets +1/-1 for each land consumed by it.

What is everyone so bummed about? Less expensive than a Craw Wurm, and it has -1/+2 over it, which isn't that bad. 4 stars, and I'm probably the first one to give it that.
Vandarringa is right. Wizards prints cards like this intentionally, because the game needs simple cards sometimes. Have you ever opened a pack in a draft and been presented with 15 solid blocks of text? It's overwhelming. New players need things like this.

Vanillas have their place, in part, in casual Cloudpost or Urzatron decks where you can generate a lot of mana but it has no color. Having fat you can drop T3-ish is neat.
That said, if you ramp right in green you can get 7 of nearly any color of mana by T3-T4...
