Kinda disappointed that this wasn't just a straight improvement over old stuff *SARCASM* because so many people played Flamekin Spitfire *SARCASM*

A0602, this card is quite clearly not a pure improvement on Flamekin Spitfire. In return for a cheaper ability, it can't target creatures. That is a big tradeoff.

I want this card to be good. I keep looking at it and seeing the repeatable damage and wanting it to be good. I guess I just want another toy to play with in Pauper. Sadly, this isn't the toy I wanted.

Almost strictly worse than Spikeshot Elder, with the only advantage it has being that the activation cost is 2R instead of 1RR. Spikeshot Elder is better than it in four different ways, and every one of those ways is more important than the one way Scalding Devil is better than it.

No reason to make such a controversial creature type... No reason to even go there at all. I have a hard enough time to explain to my church why I play a game called "Magic"... now its got creatures called devils....

@Shane: They've had demons since the start of the game. Stop trolling.
As for the card itself, expensive, but no real limit means if you happen to have some spare mana, feel free to go nuts. That in itself is cool enough for me.
It's people like Shane that give religious polk a bad name.
... I'm not religious. Just pointing it out. I think devil's a perfectly good creature type. Oh, think how people would flip out if there was a devil/demon lord...

@DoragonShinzui: Not true. The earliest blocks didn't to avoid bad press, parental concerns, and driving away players like Shane. Personally I'm ok with it but don't feel these 'controversial' creature types add to the game either.
Just look at *every set ever* and you'll pretty much find demons, demonic references, and references to hell. I realize they did dial it back for a bit and it's full bore now, but still, it was always present.

Ah you're right! Lord of the Pit wasn't printed in the first 5 core sets right?! Neither was Hell's Caretaker, Mold Demon, Hellfire in Legends, Stone-Throwing Devils in The Dark, Demonic Hordes in Alpha/Beta..
