A flavorful attempt of a red counter control. It might be enjoyable regarding gameplay, but overall it's awful nontheless.
Unless you're casting this spell after having taken control of an opponent's turn with Mindslaver or Sorin Markov, this virtually reads: "Far worse than a timeshifted red Cancel. You lose 1 life."

am I on of the only ones who thinks this is actually pretty cool, especially if you play it on one of their game-winning cards? I know some people who would be willing to pay upwards of five life to keep their akroma or phage :P

When someone pays 5+ life for a spell, this card was worth the mana invested. At worst, you lose 4 life and counter a spell.
This card does not work competitively, but can be really effective in some casual play.

Similar to Dash Hopes in a way. An off-color counter that can be negated with a life payment. This sounds cooler in multiplayer though.

I've found this quite useful for burn. If you've got a bunch of direct damage in your hand, you can trick your opponent into bidding themselves dead quite easily (and if you're targeting the right spell, then you win by stopping it anyway if they don't bite)

What is the intended play of this card in multiplayer? It's possible a third player could want to bid life to counter the spell, but the first sentence seems to suggest this is not allowed, while "each player" suggests it might be.
