Pyroblast can target nonblue permanants/spells. So, if you are building storm, you can target your own nonblue permanents/spells (or your opponents). Red Elemental Blast can't.

Oh so pyroblast could target it but not counter it, whereas Red Elem Blast can't even target it. That makes sense... that is sneeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaky.

I remember the time when no blue mage was safe from red counterspells. There was three of them so 12 in any antiblue deck.
