I love playing this on my casual buddies who don't have enchant removal and are forced to stare at a Journey to Nowhere card that got rid of their bomb.

Whenever I play this card, I often say to the opponent "Want to guess where your creature's going? NOWHERE!"

My friends don't have enchant removal. They literally just forget their creature ever existed until I remind them when they play a Planar Cleansing that they get it back.
That's usually bad.

i would rather have a disenchant, although my friends deck includes four of these and 12 other similar exile/destroy cards. 4, because does not fully remove powerful monsters from the game.

Cast Into The Roil on it before it actually exiles the creature for maximum fun!

I really, really wish that would work... but he has protection from colord spells, which means he can't be targeted by this.

Is there a difference between "Target creature becomes exiled" and "Exile target creature?" The only reason I'm asking is because my friend keeps telling me that cards like Journey to Nowhere that are worded like the latter phrase still has an affect on creatures with things like Shroud, which I feel like is incorrect. I've been giving him the benefit of the doubt because he's a really enthusiastic player who plays quite frequently and I'm a real casual player who doesn't play consistently and really keep up with changing rules.
When Alara block came out I was actually still going off of 7th Ed. rules and thought "Mana Burn" still existed. <--Yea I'm that out of the loop sometimes. So if any of you well seasoned players can clarify this to me I'd really appreciate it.

Thekenghiskhan: Your friend is wrong. If it has shroud, nobody can target it. Full stop. "Target creature is exiled" still targets a creature, so shroud defends against it quite admirably.

Emrakul can be exiled by this. This card's ability triggers when it enters the battlefield, at which point it is no longer a spell, and Emrakul, the Aeons Torn no longer has protection from it.

@thekenghiskhan If the ability had said "Exile one creature", you could have exiled a creature with shroud (or color protection). But it says "target" permanent, both of the situations you mentioned requires you to target a creature, a shrouded creature is untargetable.

i hate removal more than anything in the world! while it is an enchantment and can be destroyed as such if i am playing mono black (which is one of my favorite colors) i cant do much of anything about it. does anyone know of ANY type of black enchantment destruction?

Just one quick question:
I have a creature in play enchanted by "Journey to Nowhere." If the player controlling "Journey To Nowhere" loses or leaves the game, what happens to my creature?

When the owner of Journey to Nowhere leaves, if it is in someone else's control, then it remains on the battlefield.

I like this card very much. It's unfortunate that it looks quite similar to Oblivion Ring and that the latter can deal with planeswalkers - that means that designers are probably going to prefer to keep Oblivion Ring around in core sets, and it'd be nice to see this card get a second chance in Standard. On the other hand, if someone ever makes another efficient card that can deal with planeswalkers, it might take Oblivion Ring's place for a rotation.

Until then, there's casual play.
