Even better, try the ones that actually worked best...
Black Lotus, Mountain. Sac Lotus for three green, channel nineteen life, one more green, and activate fireball/disintegrate with mountain.

Ummm, papa you're... Here is how that actually works:

sac Lotus for GREEN (you don't pick three colors, you pick ONE) play Mountain, use Mountain for Fireball, and green for Channel, then win.

I'm not a fan, honestly. I'm not saying it isn't part of an insta-win combo, and it's a great card. I just don't, personally, like it.

Sometimes a card can be too good.

Fireball/Channel is like the first combo ever in Magic, would've given 5/5 but it's banned so just 4.5/5

Awesome card. Sucky art, but the art on the new version is great.

The first-turn win is classic, but Channel/Fireball is also pretty cheesy at any point of the game based on the simple basis of "If I have more life than you, I win." Not a tough prospect in a deck running direct damage.

No one mentions Channel/Mirror Universe eh? Probably because it doesn't work much anymore. You dont need a lotus though.

"NOT BANNED IN VINTAGE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!!"

They don't ban cards in Vintage, save for Ante and 'dexterity' cards (ex. Chaos Orb).

No shame in using this for a big burn to seal the deal. To have more life than your opponent is the definition of winning. That's Magic.
Channel's not broken. Counter whatever spell gets cast with it and the Channel caster is out however much life.

The channel-ball working you need four cards, two of which are restricted and one (mountain) available in multitudes. I need two cards: one that's unrestricted (Force of Will) and anoter blue card. No need to ban Channel.

Good card though.

People keep saying the original combo used a mountain.... The original deck didn't have any lands. Twenty of Black lotus, Channel and Fireball. Then they could mulligan until they had a fireball, Channel and two black lotuses. There weren't any limits to the number of a single card you could play in a deck.

This card actually defined a Yu-Gi-Oh episode. Naturally, they made Ra even more broken.

You can do the same, if you have something like Channel/Vault Skirge/Distortion Strike/Untamed Might. Crazy level of Johnny-ness, but theoretically doable. Throw on a Curse of Bloodletting, double strike anything, Inquisitor's Flail, or replace the Skirge with an infect guy for even more lulz.

This was the old school combo that everyone feared. Bertrand Lestree won the first round of the last match of the first worlds tournament with a channel/fireball. Show some respect for the old school stuff, you youngins.

always found the combo lame and unimaginative, but i do miss richard thomas's art...

Were the mechanics themselves of this changed in the errata? I don't see how the original wording implies the current text, specifically the "any time you could activate a mana ability part, but only the ability to change your life to colorless mana (which quite frankly is insane).
