New Phyrexia adds a lot of fuel to extended soul sisters... not that anyone plays that archetype.

WW? Really? Darn, that drops this card's pickability considerably. Well, actually, never mind; you'd never take it that early, and the WW will ensure that the guy tables to whoever is actually running white. So... mid-pack.

I see what they are going here. They are letting you gain back life from all that phyrexian mana for free. Pretty subtle Wizards.

Good in limited, mediocre in constructed, but boring.

There are a few reasons why this exciting. Firstly it extends the reach of white decks. It allows you to get the last few life out of an opponent if they stall you. Secondly, It curves nicely into a flicker deck. You play him turn two, maybe attack with it on turn three then target him with flickerwisp that same turn. I am excited about that because I have been having trouble thinking of good two drops to flicker.
DAMMIT PHYREXIA, you're giving my Black tricks away.
At least you're giving me new toys, too.

This card looks terrible to me.. I mean really, they printed it at the same time as suture priest, which is likely to give you more bang for it's mana cost, and it costs only 1 white compared to this exarchs 2 white so it is more splashable. The only advantage to this one is if you can blink it like with venser or glimmerstag, but then it really doesn't go into a blink deck, since there are cooler things that you can do by blinking other creatures like a wall of omens.

A perfect addition to New Phyrexia, in that it makes paying for your creatures with much, much easier. I like it 4/5

@kiseki: A good two drop in a flicker deck? Check out Wall of Omens and Meddling Mage. You might not want to flicker the meddling mage straight away, but it is a WAY better two drop than this. So is Wall of Omens. Its also WW instead of 1W, which makes it harder for dual color decks. (And I assume your flicker deck isnt mono color..)

@donovanfabian:
I love how you noted that suture priest and this card are in the same block, I hadn't noticed actually. (Zzzz). How about you put those two together. And maybe a glimmer point stag, journey to nowhere and venser to sojourner. Then bounce this guy until the cows come home. Gain life with the suture priest when he enters, make them lose life and you neer have to attack.
This card is golden, and you'll just have to figure out how to get two plains on the field for those dual color decks.... So difficult lol.

Love the art, mana cost, power-toughness combo, and pure cleric creature type. Easily one of my favorite white cards.

Synod Sanctums, Mimic Vats and Venser + 4 of this guy = a very short clock for opp. And the thought of having this strategy in full effect by T5 is exciting too.

Cards like this and Suture Priest make me seriously wonder if New Phyrexia is actually Time Spiral. Either that or white has become R&D's love child.
Easily the best Exarch. No question!

To me this exemplifies the traditional fantasy Cleric. He's a priest but he's tough and can hold his own in a melee and he can use his magic to heal his allies or harm his enemies. And perfect cost to boot. 5/5

Either covers a single casting of a Phyrexian Mana spell, or slaps 'em in the face for 2. I can dig it.
