At least in my area, flying = unblockable so toughness isn't that big of a deal. The upkeep cost is a little archaic, but it's not horrible. I don't play blue in a very "blue" way so I never save mana for counterspells and the like. It's not a bad card, but for an extra mana you can get an Air Elemental, or better a Djinn of Wishes.

maybe, but the 1 thoughness makes it practically useless. any flying weenie or simple damage effect would dispatch it.

For back in the day, this card was pretty bad butted in anything not mono blue! A Four power flyer for three colorless one blue was unheard of for a non-rare card! You only needed one blue, and any combination of any color to get this bad boy going, no big deal it tied up a blue mana, Especially if you played black and did Dark Ritual for a second turn casting, a green deck had it covered with Giant Growth and red had it covered with Blood Lust. Back in the day a four star card, but alas now adays? Barely 2.5, but I will always love this card.SO many fond memories! Actually rating three now that Phantasms are now all Illusion creture type for those Illusionist theme decks and support cards!
