I'm surprised how well this did in my draft deck.
A lot of useful creatures have two or less toughness.

Draft it even if you aren't playing red, because it could potentially devastate you if you don't...

Now I'm starting to wonder if Jaya is like Chandra's mother or something, since Jaya had the flavor text in the old version of the card...hmm...

This card owned defeated the crap out of my Blue/Black levelers deck. I'd bring out some one or two mana levelers only to have them wiped of the board before I could get venerated teacher out.

Jaya Ballard is Chandra's mentor. Her Obi-Wan Kenobi. She taught her Pyroclasm and Incinerate. She's also the character with the most famous flavor texts. I'm kinda mad she seems to be utterly forgotten, since Chandra owes Jaya EVERYTHING. ungrateful jerk. When (not If) Incinerate comes back to replace Lightning Bolt in Standard, it better have the quote under Jaya's name...

"Bam!" -- Emeril.
Does anyone else find it ironic that the number one hate card for Kuldotha Red, the aggro deck with a curve of {0}-{RR} and the fastest deck in the format, is a red sorcery that costs {1R}?
Also has the distinction among red cards of being able to kill that crazy Neurok Commando, the coolest card I will never use.

Who would want to burn things one at a time? Especially with Kuldotha Goblins breathing down your neck?

Devastating in its simplicity. This is what I look for in a red card. Very powerful.

Let's see just how quickly your merry band of weenie token creatures can disappear.
@ceab17: Nice reference there. Be a shame if something should happen to it.
Often when building decks, I find that I have the perfect ramp, balanced beautifully in cost slots and card power, for an early rush win. Everything is accounted for, be it Mana Leaks or removal. Then I remember that this card exists, and I realize nothing is perfect. Pyroclasm just answers so many problems.

If a player didn't pump their zombies after all that time ramping mana, they deserve to be pyroclasm'd
