Weird that he ain't legendary, would have been an interesting general.

He was made before legendary was invented. A few sets later and he would have been. He wins most games in ME4 limited. I've had people concede as soon as I cast him.
Not only was he invented before Legendary status, he was invented before the tap symbol too! This is one old card!
I would love to have this on the table when an opponent gloatingly casts Blightsteel Colossus

The disparity in rating between cards like Aladdin and newer cards like Master Transmuter is interesting to me. Especially since most of the time, the complaint about Aladdin is that he is 4 mana for a 1/1 body, when MT is also 4 mana but for a 1/2 body. Not much difference to warrant the huge difference in rating/viability.
For the cost, and the fact that it's a mind control against artifact creatures, and he can do to more than one creature, he's a great card. However, I don't like that they get returned when he leaves the battlefield, especially with him being a 1/1. 4/5 overall from me.

I like how the text has to remind you to give the cards back at the end of the game.

@MechaKraken: I don't think anyone would be silly enough to cast a Blightsteel Colossus while you had Aladdin out. Unless of course they were about to haste out a Viashino Heretic.

Aladdin, why does your ring and your lamp really suck, but you're an alright guy?

The explanation for why none of the cards in Arabian Nights are legendary is because Rabiah, the plane they are from, was duplicated 1,000 times in the Thousandfold Refraction. There are 1,001 subplanes in Rabiah, so if you and your opponent control an Aladdin, it's because you have one from one subplane and your opponent has one from another.

@Bastion That wouldn't work. Darksteel's indestructible, all you'd do is...get Viashino Heretic on the field...yay?

Aladdin + Mycosynth Lattice = to take control of a creature, enchantment, or land your opponent controls (since they'd be artifacts with Lattice on the field). I wonder, how hard would it would be to abuse this? :D
