Lands like these are an obvious trade-off, and whether or not it is useful for you should be determined by your personal play preferences.
But there's one problem: they're non-basic, which is almost always a liability, and limits synergy with other cards. Yet you could also argue that they prevent landwalk, so... Whatever. Take it if you like it.

That is definitely just a charred pile of rubble what is this stronghold of which you speak?
In most cases, I'd rather have cabal coffers; however, this is still pretty good. This allows you to set-up for a big spell; and, since black has access to so many powerful, under-costed spells, your not in that bad of a situation when it leaves the field. I think the whole cycle deserves a reprint.

I really like this card. It's a swamp that comes in tapped, and you can get an extra mana once when you need it. It seems pretty balanced to me. Although, if you are REALLY are worried about tempo you may want to consider something else.
