Should have been at least +1/+1 imo. Wizards probably didn't do so because it's an evasive equipment and a stronger flyer can be a greater advantage. Afterall there were also days where we had Flying Carpet as reusable flying tool. *shudder*
But although flying is primarily a blue (and secundarily a white) color, Horned Helmet for instance provides trample and +1/+1, only requires to equip, and can even be equipped faster for trample's primary color by paying .
And there are also 1-drop Auras which provide flying, including Shimmering Wings which could also be bounced in order to act halfway like an equipment. Equipment in general costs as much to cast and to equip as the Aura it's based on. Neurok Hoversail required two mana to equip nontheless. The kite only requires more than the hoversail yet only provides 1 point of power more...

Nice flavor. It's just alright for me. Neurok Hoversail might be what you're looking for.

Good card in my opinion. Equip it to a strong creature and victory is yours (in my case that is). Mana cost is a bit on the downside, but overall a good card. 4/5

It's also equipment, so you're paying extra for the card advantage over an aura. If a creature with flight dies, both the creature and flight go to your graveyard. However, lose a creature equipped with Kitesail and Kitesail stays on the battlefield and can be equipped to another creature. Besides, flight requires blue mana, which not all decks will have, while Kitesail requires any color of mana. This isn't the best card, but it certainly has its advantages over others.

A fairly high pick in Worldwake drafts. I've lost enough games to flying baloths.
this is a good card. its a little pricey, but only a little. Its real strength doesn't come from the +1/+0, it comes from the flying. Sometimes this card breaks stalemates, or allows your fatties to block their little flyers. I use it a lot because frankly, it's just a good card.

The mental image of Scute Mob riding this is hilarious to me and horrifying to my opponents.

Although it doesn't seem good at first glance, the moment your oppoment puts his big beefy creature on it... yeah.
It will come up on you, when you least expect it. 3/5.

Pretty much all I'm asking for from common equipment. A touch expensive, but the flexibility is well worth it.
