I'm sad that Timbermaw Larva never got an adult form in Eldrazi but Terra Stomper got a baby version of itself.

It's... Stompy, I guess. Not as good as its grown up version, but at common, that's quite a nice creature for 5 CMC.

Stampeding Rhino for Limited.

In Standard format, I prefer the rhino just for the toughness.

This thing is way cooler looking than what it grows up into haha. Looks bad @SS but unfortunately turns into a super strong Gopher. It's a Love/Hate relationship.

AWWWWWW! Cute puppy! A little like what they Did with Bull Cerodon when they made Cerodon Yearling.

This looks like it's a bit of educational deceipt from wizards about Eldrazi limited. In many draft formats this would be quite attractive for a position topping off your curve and so on but not in Rise. I can almost hear wizards saying "Aha, we tricked you!"

a decent card because 5/3 is better than 4/4 especially with Trample.

So it costs Green less, the rarity drops two stages, and we get -3/-5 and it can be countered.
Not sure why the cub can be countered when the adult can't.
Other then that I don't see much wrong with this guy.

Difficult to understand why they print four months later Molder Beast with a 4G cmc.

Why would I want this guy when, for one more mana, I can get a "can't be countered" ability and +3/+5 P/T? This card is worthless, and while I realize that there is limited capability for this card, the same can be said of a hundred other terrible cards, so.

Also, Stomper Cub is missing a set of legs. Terra Stomper has six, this guy only has four. Do they grow another set of legs later in life or what? I'm used to grammatical mistakes in the flavor text, but flavor mistakes in the art? That's a new one.

It has to do with the Limited environment. They try to print new cards all the time, but most of them can't be interesting or powerful compared to a lot of others. Rares are *usually* where the new super-cool tech goes because it has to compete with being cool for decades, or they can be cards that just screw up limited too much if they're not rare.

Commons that are useless or strictly worse or what have you have to do with keeping the power level of a particular color or mix of colors at a certain point.

Even when we get mega power-creeped minions like Obliterator (mostly fine due his heavy color weight) they *barely* make a splash in modern or Legacy (if you've noticed.) They're awesome but also more of a Timmy card that helps generate sales/interest/cool factor. This guy is there to help people have fun in limited because a board full of Obliterators, Terra Stompers, Avacyns, and similar isn't actually that exciting unless they're a climax to the game. An 8/7 Double strike is impressive because it's better than the other stuff on the board.

A 5/6 flyer for 3 is impressive because it's so freaking rare to see a deck that can put him out. The more 6/6s we see and 5/6s we see at good costs the more we become spoiled and those same awesome giant creatures become less interesting because they're no longer "big" compared to others, they're just average sized. We *need* cards like this not only for limited, but becasue we don't want every card to devalue our beloved giants.
