Rest for the Weary gains you 8 life and only requires you to play a land. What is the point of instant-speed life gain anyway? Oh, did I also mention that Rest costs 2 less mana?

Potentially powerful, but not practical. Now there's some alliteration for you.

I found this useful in limited. I drafted an Eldrazi deck; the first round I lost because my opponent killed me before I could get my main threats out. The next round I put a couple of these in and they worked exactly as expected, gaining me around 9 life and giving me the couple more turns I needed to get my Eldrazi. In any other set, this would be crap, but this is clearly meant to be used with certain colorless creatures.

I have been thinking of how to use this in constructed. and reached the conclusion that it can be used with Sanguine Bond on the field and a Draco in hand... for draining 16 life^^
But then again, Sanguine Bond is better off with illusions of Grandeur... for 20 life... or the donate way.
So this card is mostly useless... unless you play with Gleemax

Thank you Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

However, to be effective it needs another card, preferably a BIG costly card, so I give it a 3.5/5 for being situationaly effective.
Just consider that this card gave me the turns I was needing to win the game.
It is wonderful to net 15 life during EoT.
