Obscenely powerful card for white weenie.

This is powercreep incarnate. White is unbelievably overpowered now. I guess BALANCE is not important anymore, let's focus on AWESOME RARES F*** YEAH! And none for you blue, go away, no one likes you!
...
I'm really depressed now.

Apparently reprinting Crusade wasn't alright for Magic 2010.
Either because global buffs are simply outdated in modern play, or because the double-white mana cost was not good enough for M10's powercreeped white.

I know it's horribly imbalanced, but I still love this card and would happily run a playset of them. With Captain of the Watch and the Veteran Armorsmith/Swordsmith, if at all possible.

@True_Mumin: Balance is a very broken white card. And blue is very powerful right now, it's the cornerstone of Faeries and Five Colour Control, and Cryptic Command is one of the best cards in standard. Oh, and in legacy and vintage, blue will forever be at least thrice as powerful as all other colours.

I don't think Honor of the Pure is overpowered, I really don't. I think it should have costed {W}{W} though.

Very good card. Yes the lack of WW cost does improve its versatility, but think about it. That just means it is easier to play in a multicolored deck, meaning less of your creatures will be white, meaning it has less effect. In truth, you won't be dropping this on turn two, I think a second creature is more important, especially in white weenie. In fact this is probably a turn 3-5 play, in addition to a creature or other spell. tapping out for a buff enchantment isn't the way to go. Oh, and the past tense of costs is cost, not costed. Just wanted to clear that up. "It costs 1W", "It should have cost WW".

Very powerful and strictly better than Crusade, but I wish Wizards would stop printing cards that make other cards completely useless.

Considering that Crusade costs WW and affects all creatures, I think this card should have had a casting cost of 2W or 1WW instead. I also can't believe how easy it is to get your hands on one of these since it's included in the "We Are Legion" Intro Pack. Speaking of that, I find it amusing and ridiculous that a playset of Honor of the Pure costs roughly the same price as buying four Intro Packs.

Does anyone remember Glorious Anthem?
That is all of your creatures for one white mana more.
I don't think it's over powered, considering crusade, but I do agree that it is inefficient to render older cards utterly obsolete, but then again, Lightning Bolt for Shock and Volcanic Hammer, and 'nuff said.

Crusade is cooler. 4x Birds and you can run 4x of these in a green aggro deck, let's say. Easy to abuse for any other color, no flavour at all... I just don't like it.

Honor of the pure is powerful, but short of broken. Works well with conqueror's pledge and other such weenie cards. Get the most benefit by putting out the most creatures to benefit from the ability.

i love this card. but i will say this, crusade has not been printed because it was just not interesting and was not liked for its helping of your opponent. as for the people saying its a bad thing they keep printing things that make other things strictly worse. the simple fact is they need to rebalance the world, and make things better.

as for things i will say about this card rather then about people is that this card should have been 2 white, and i would say it really should say something along the line of having to control a plains. then it would turn off from armageddon. so please people remember, there is always going to be cards that are strictly better. because if they don't they will and have worked themself into a corner and as things keep in that corner they will just simply have people lose interest. it is when they do things like this, and some of the other M10 and zendikar strictly better cards they peak interest from the veteran players.

Almost overpowered. I think this should at least cost {W}{W} instead of {1}{W} (I realize it doesn't matter too much, but this card just seems so powerful).

@Spideredd:
Lightning Bolt was around way before Shock -- since the beginning --, but I get your point.

@Loozar402: Glorious Anthem costs 1WW and it must cost strictly more than Honor of the Pure.
1W is right: reduced effectiveness in a multicolor deck and/or avoiding nonwhite creatures are disadvantages worth a discount of W.
A cost of 1W is practically the same as WW in a mono-white deck and makes Glorious Anthem accessible to decks with multicolor white spells; and of course a casting cost of 2 puts this card in direct competition with a lot of small white creatures and it's likely to wait in queue until turn 3 or 4 anyway.

This is a great card. I rate it 4.5 stars. However, WotC needs to make up their mind about printing cards that are clearly superior to existing cards. They stopped printing dual lands since they didn't like how there is almost no disadvantage to using one over the basic land. Now, they print this card, which is better than Crusade is almost every situation. Take a stance and stick with it, please.

Jesus H. Christ doing Loop-de-loops on a biplane, is this card ridiculous. Considering it all-but obsoletes Glorious Anthem and all. Should've cost 2W or WW at the least. Absolutely ridiculous.

Crusades is a classic white weenie booster, but this card blows it away. Some people complain that Wizards makes new cards that make old cards useless, but that is the nature of a game that puts out 3 or 4 expansions a year.

This card wins games... I can't tell you how many games my soldier deck has won just because I've gotten 2 or 3 of these out with... especially combined with things like Veteran Swordsmith, and Captain of the watch... I love dropping turn 1. Elite Vanguard. Turn 2. Honor of the Pure. attack for 3 Turn 3. Honor of the pure. attack for 4 (my opponent is now at 13) Turn 4. Elspeth, give elite vanguard +3/+3 and flying... attack for 7 in the air. If my opponent had no answers he is now at 6 on my turn 4 and will probably loose next turn... especially if i can get my fifth land and drop a conquerors pledge... it's unfair how good this card is...

I want a Bad Moon that only effects your creatures. Also on the subject of printing cards that make older cards useless, in this case I don't mind it. I stopped playing with Crusade because of the universal effect a long time ago. Plus Crusade is just a nostalgic card, I don't mind holding onto them even if I'm not gonna play it :)

Why does Crusade have a higher rating? If anything, this should be higher because of the difference in mana cost!

Just in case anybody doesn't know what the "power creep" is, take a look at this, and then Crusade. Many a card has fallen victim to the power creep.

Alas, this is a good card to have in a white weenie deck. It gives all those small soldiers and tokens a boost, especially +1 power for first strike. Not to mention multiple ones stack with each other so drawing more than one is not a bad thing. Its also cheap at only 2 CMC, making that 2/1 Elite Vanguard a formidable 3/2 on the second turn.

Don't forget that multicolored cards will get the bonus too, making a 4/4 Watchwolf or a 6/5 Woolly Thoctar.
