One of the most versatile bounce cards. Cheap, works on your own creatures or opponents, usually unexpected. I like!

Agreed. This card is great for those situations where you could just do without a creature or deny your opponent one. I have 4 for good reason, though the people I primarily play with not only know my deck well, almost always expect it. Of course, it doesn't prevent the intimidation factor.

I like it too. it can either slow down your opponent or save one of your creatures. i like to use it to get rid of enchament that enchant creatures.

You can use unsummon just like a return creature from gravyard spell. All it says is return creature to owner's hand. One of the BEST blue spells ever.

No, Unsummon can't return creature cards from your graveyard. A creature is a permanent with the type "creature", a creature card in a graveyard is - a creature card.

Potentially annoying to the opponent, and it can rescue soon to be dead cards. Handy.

decent still, but not amazing. bouncing a creature means it will be back the next turn, so your spell could have just as easily said (prevent the combat damage target creature would have done this turn). used to be useful to get rid of a threat just long enough for you to attack for the win. However, sleep is doing a much better job of this. those of you who are bound to point out the casting cost difference: what horrible amount of damage are you going to be dealt by a creature in the first 3 turns? way to soon for a swing for the win as well. main problem with unsummon is it doesn't help with threats that are otherwise tough to get around, like planeswalkers.

...why does he only have four fingers?

Don't forget that it destroys all auras and counters on the creature it bounces.
Also, it kills tokens outright.

It's a Vedalken being pulled away, they only have three to four fingers on each hand.

my freind plays a token devour deck. so naturaly i love this card. just sacked 20 creatures to make a 61/61 or a 42/42 with trample? what are you talking about? and where did your creaturs go? of corse, it only worked the first time.

This is the first card that comes to mind when I think of Blue. Been using this forever, and have probably cast it a trillion times in a trillion situations. Want to move that guy so he cant block? Bam. Crappy enchantment on your own guy? Bam. Opponent just spent a ton of mana on boosting a creature to attack this turn? Bam.
For its casting cost, an awesome one shot. With the release of the Eldrazi, this guy should be part of any deck running blue. Let them summon Ulamog's Crusher by sacrificing their spawn tokens, and then send him packing.

This isn't nearly as powerful as the 10th edition version.
Underrated card, useful due to it's versatility: Stop something killing you for a turn or two (depending if they have mana to play it), ave one of your own creatures, nullify some for of pump to a creature, kill enchantments on dudes (both your's and your opponents), kills counters on dudes (lol at devour dudes), slow down your opponent or even fill up someone' s hand if absolutly nescesary.
Also, kills tokens dead. All for 1 mana.

The flavor should read "You will learn to pay its mana cost"

As useful as this is, it's only one-time use and its applications are fairly limited.
In most cases a bounce such as into the roil is better. Or paying 1 more mana to essence scatter the creature before it even hits the field.
