She should have stayed in the swamp when she died; nobody wants her.

Swampwalk might be useful against pure black and/or multicolor decks (which include black... NO SHIT SHERLOCK!). 3/3 is a reasonable strength however the (4) summoning cost is tad too much (one could argue swampwalk is worth the extra mana). Logistics aside the art is just gorgeous and the flavor text simple yet cool. I'd give it a 3/5, nothing amazing but a nice addition for any collector of black cards.

she's great in limited and while 4 mana for a 3/3 is considered a lot nowadays, she is splashable and in drafts and sealed she can easily be a game winner. not so much in other formats or even casual but she has her purpose.

Why isn't she a spirit?
Well whatever, it is still one of the coolest black creatures of all time even if it isn't all that great.

Landwalk cards are really only great for SB material. Paying 1 extra for an effect that isn't going to be used is pointless. Still, good artwork and flavor text.

I love how all these people bust on swampwalk, like no one EVER uses black... please. 3/3 landwalk for 4 is definitely respectable, and the card is cool with nice artwork.
There are plenty of cards that will work with this creature, including Convinving Mirage for U/B combo decks and the classic Evil Presence in older formats.

Oh and just in case anyone forgot, their are only 5 colours in Magic. Chances are your going to be seeing some swamps. Also the cost for the P/T is pretty good if you take a look at previous black cards. sure if this was in green, it would be 4/3, maybe trample, possibly not. Red would have its 4/1 haste, blue would have a 2/3 Flying and white would probably have a 2/4.
This is of course using balanced logic, Wizards of course is on something.

so lets say you playing two headed giant, would this effect still work if only one play had swamps, could the other player without swamps block?

You people have no idea how easy it is to build a swamp/island walk deck. contaminated soil spreading sea >convincing mirage and evil presence< as mentioned earlier phantasmal terrain and many others. think out side the box. MTG is filled with situational cards, make those situations happen. Granted, Back to nature would be your worst nightmare, but Johnny stimulates Spike.

@ Laguz
She's not a Spirit because she's a Wraith! Wraiths the are undead that are bound to the swamps.
I like this card. I've always thought a 3/3 for four mana was pretty solid, and swampwalk is a neat, flavorful ability.

Between Wraith, Shade, Spirit, Horror, Illusion, Elemental, Incarnation, and Demon, I think we have enough creature types for vague supernatural entities.

It's a fairly large black creature with no drawbacks. Why is anyone complaining about this card ever?

I'm kind of with Laguz here. Around since Alpha or not, it's hard to get excited about the Wraith creature type. There are five of them, the most you can say about them as a tribe is "they're black swampwalkers", and even then that's only 15% of a very small club. Compare that with, say, dryads, who have 23 members in the tribe and account for ~60% of green forestwalkers. And it's a little hard to justify either as anything more than spirit (or elemental for dryad) based on anything other than MtG tradition.
