Green could do with a little Alpha Strike acceptance - considering they're known for their.. you know, creatures.

Its a unicorn with a built in Lure ability; its flavorful and mechanically useful in the right situations; whats there not to love about it? Aside from its high cost and low toughness.

Is it really that good? Expensive and so so dependent on buffs. By the time it's out, won't green want mana for more important things or fatter creatures? This thing plus an artifact or creature enchantment aren't necessarily as good as a biggie, plus you're spending two cards on it.
I dunno, seems pretty meh to me. Love to see a good idea with it though...

@ Toasteroven It doesn't have to be big. All it has to do is live for one turn. The idea is you play him just before you're going to attack with some big creatures. Next turn you attack with them all, and every one of your opponents creatures have to block the unicorn if able. Meaning your big creatures get through completely free of defenders.
So, does it have to be big? No. Just gotta hope they don't kill it the moment it comes out with a burn or a removal. If they don't, they more-or-less just signed their own death warrant.

I find it interesting that this is rated so much higher than Shinen of Life's Roar. The Shinen has one less power, but also costs 2 less. It also has the channel ability which may come in handy. Is it just the set that it was in that makes it so much worse? Being a spirit? Being a cat with a human head sticking out of its spiritual shoulder?

No, the Shinen is actually much better, but really the mana cost isn't that important. You wouldn't want either to be sitting around waiting for multiple turns anyway. However, the channel ability is quite handy, because it doesn't have to wait a turn that way.

Shinen of Life's Roar fulfills the same purpose for a much lower casting cost. I'm not sure why Charlie here has to be so expensive just because it has 1 more power.

what if two of these attacked? My guess is that maybe the blocker can choose which one to block? multiple unicorns attacking multiple palace guards would be very good material for MTG Judge training. hehehe

As the ruling say:
If two Prized Unicorns are attacking, each creature the defending player controls can block either one of them. (The defending player chooses.) A creature that can block multiple creatures, like Palace Guard, must block both of them.
If I'm attacking with four Prized Unicorns and you have four Palace Guards (and nothing else), each guard will block all four unicorns; each unicorn will be blocked by all four guards.
If the players organize the damage in optimal order, two unicorns and two guards will die.

This card or shinen's roar is amazing for one simple reason, you play a blanchwood armor on one and your opponent doesn't have a removal and you get free creature removal for the rest of the game, that is only avoidable if your opponent chooses to hurl their creatures at yours.. and who has most creature advantage? Green does! Also just plain awesome when you want to get a game win by sneaking past your opponents creatures, say with a simic skyswallower, or have a mycoloth devour everything to become like 12/12 with the unicorn still in play and attack.
I've had endless fun using the might of the oaks, target creature gets 7/7, with this unicorn. Colossal might or gorgon flail doesn't hurt either.

askin a question. i have ten creatures right? when my opponent attacks with just P. Unicorn, i only have to block it with enough creatures just to kill it, right? Do all my creatures have to even if i got four 7/7's out

OsirisStar718: ALL creatures able to block must block. If Prized Unicorn attacks, and you have ten 8/8s on the field, able to block (untapped), then they all have to block Prized Unicorn. That's why Prized Unicorn is so stupid. Unless, of course, you're using it against your opponent. Then it's awesome.

I'd rather play Shinen, thank yo very much.
Oh, and Viniferra gains bonus points for the reference.
you guys make it seem like this card must be buffed up to be of use. its not ment to survive O_O its like chess, the pawns must be sacrificed in order to win, this is the uuber awesome pawn that dominates the field. dont rely on this to be powerful. rely on having over powerful cards. and the reason this card is 4 mana and shinen of life's roar is 2 mana and this one is 4 is not just the mana cost, but the fact that in a standard tournament, you can PLAY this card, not shinen.

Toasteroven, you do realize that unless they have a creature that can block multiple then they cant block your other creatures? you cant just say "i'm going to block your other creature so i cant block it" you have to block it. that means that that eldrazi your swinging with cant be chummed by that 1/1 because it is busy trying to catch the unicorn

Does this mean that if I attack with all my creatures including this one, all of the opponent's creatures block this one and the rest hit the opponent?

Taunting Elf cost 1/4 the mana and has a relevant creature type.

Good in Limited, and not much else. He screams "kill me or get creamed by a board full of dudes next turn."
He's vulnerable, expensive for what he does, but it still doesn't change his bomb status in Limited.
