It says AND!!! not OR!!! Read the card! This is packing 2 removal spells in one that is why it is undercosted for 5 mana.

Way underrated. It's a 2-for-1!

It's worth the life and the five mana cost. It destroys a land, and unlike Plague Spores, it can destroy black creatures, too. (They can be regenerated, though.) Also, five mana is much easier to get than six for Plague Spores.

Because this costs you 3 extra life, and is 2 colors.....jank.
Obviously the effect is good to cAst, but the cOst I am not fond of. I typed "Destroy target land" in Gatherer to see what I could find for EDH (not trying to make an all LD deck- I just want to be able to hit people's utility lands and occasionally color screw them if they use Dual lands. I got like 130ish results and this is so far the worst one. Here's why:
The way things are costed now, this should say 2BR and pay 2 life, not 3BR and pay 3 life. It's a 2-for-1. Well, that's just dandy. There are plenty of mono Red cards that cost 5 and no life that do close to the same thing. So taking into account the extra color and the life loss, this is indeed overcosted.

One of two perfect 5 CMC LD spells ever made(Other: Tilling Frenzy). One problem of LD is normally you have to choose to remove a land as part of your win/con, or smack a creature to prevent damage.
