Comes into played tap is a drawback. However, for slower decks, that is usually not as big an issue. This card is going into my Winter Orb deck for sure as it is not a land and is unaffected by the Orb.

it's a very good turn one mana fix cuz you can play one mana, and return that land back for another land basically and unless you're playing weenie, the first land won't matter much.

you could always bring it in with a master transmuter and not even worry about giving up a land.

You realize you can just pay 1 and return the basic land you payed with.

It is awesome with Etherium Sculptor. It looses it drawback of coming into play tapped.
Well, it still does comes into play tapped, but you can play it for free. For instance you have an island in play and a plain and a boarderpost on your hand. You can play the plain, put down a two drop and then play the boarderpost returning a land.

It even gets better. With Amulet of Vigor it like playing an additional land per turn.

Very playable with Master of Etherium.

A good card. :-)

And I thought they did not want to make artifact lands again, lol

A landfall-boosting dual land? What's not to like?

Functionally a non-land land dual land that you could cheat into play with a bit of acceleration. The whole Borderpost cycle was a lot of fun, and Fieldmist has probably one of my favorite arts of all time.

EDH decks with 2 or more colors need as much mana fixing as they can get. I'm happy to draw this in my opening hand with a Mountain or something in my Numot, the Devastator EDH. Even my Enlightened Tutor can go grab this. The only nasty thing is there's a lot more artifact/enchantment destruction out there than land destruction. The good news is, if you're playing these and your land-lands are all basic, you're immune to Wasteland decks.

The only reason (sans sol ring) I play mana producing artifacts is for Armageddon and friends. Or Winter Orb. And these handy little things that drop for 0 mana if you haven't played a land are perfect for colorful mana-making.
