It's weird having a Birds of Paradise as your avatar, compared to all the others.
And yeah, Mirri is much better.

Well, at least you can't say that Mirri is strictly better: She only affects Basic Lands.
The BoP vanguard allows building five color decks while using all sorts of powerful nonbasic lands. This makes a huge difference; imagine a Gaea's Cradle for instance that also taps like a City of Brass without taking damage while you have no creatures out.
But since it makes a difference of 8 whooping life points, you should choose your lands wisely when you're going for the Birds instead of Mirri.

Pretty powerful.

They ought to make an enchantment that does exactly this for a low CMC but high rarity. GGG Mythic maybe?

@DarthParallax I believe you are looking for Prismatic Omen?

I would go for it. In a sliver deck like I like to play, 3 life isn't a big deal, but mana of any color is.

No. This is just stupid. It makes no sense to play as a Birds of paradise unless it had "-19 life, -7 starting and max hand size, you can only be attacked by creatures with flying, and once per turn add 1 mana to your mana pool. You can have no cards in your deck." This goes for a lot of these stupid new "Avatar" cards, they're suppose to make you into a character, not a creature. That is illogical.

Mirri is not STRICTLY better.
You know why? Because all your lands gain this effect, not only your basic lands. Therefore all those colorless lands and those which don't produce mana at all produce mana too now.
Thank you for your attention.

Because Birds of Paradise are also great legendary heroes.
