He can't damage planeswalkers or Plainswalkers, actually. Niether counts as a player.

all damage dealt to a player can be dealt to a planeswalker instead.

I love Rays art, and his cards usually have flavorful flavor text.

@ rubber

Yes this card does damage planeswalkers any damage done to a player can be redirected to any of that players planeswalkers for example if I lightning bolt an opposing player I can redirect the bolt to the players jace beleren(or any other walker he may have in play) effectively removing the planeswalker from play. further more any card that damages multipul opponents i.e. breath of malefegor 5 damage to each opponent could potentialy kill every walker on the table that is'nt yours provided no one player has more then one planeswalker in play

Good card with awesome flavor text.

This card seems totally nuts in some ways, a simple card like mayael's aria or jund charm stacks on extra 1/1 counters and you don't need to sacrifice land to do it.

My favorite mono-red card. Too bad I traded it!

What's this? A goblin that doesn't die to Volcanic Fallout or Pyroclasm? Yes please. Also, a 4 CMC that doesn't die to lightning bolt? Definitely yes please. It's extremely underrated. It's the closest thing goblins get to a threat. When all your opponents in-hand removal is gone from throwing it at your Goblin Guides and Chieftains, this can be a very handy card. The only downside I see is if someone gets rid of it right after you sac a land (Very unsportsmanlike) in which case it means you're put at a mana disadvantage, but at the end of the day, goblins were born with a mana disadvantage.

My friend runs this in his deck with Strength of the Tejuru and Knight of the Reliquary. such a good combo.

This card is a definate 4.5/5 out of five . people giving it low marks need to start sacking there land more. get this in play and sac all you land as fast as possible. you not going need it when your opponants dead

I made four of these guys the centerpiece of my Burn/Mana Oversaturation deck. I put in almost twice the required mana in order to build up Razerunners and Spire Barrage, and turn Blaze and Fireball into greater game-ending swath's of destruction than they already were. Another way to Game-end that way is to use Bloodforge Shaman in coordination with Rumbling Aftershocks to deal damage equal to 3x the mana used.

Shemhazai_x300 must be a new player...There are Goblins from some sets that put this to shame, power-wise. Mentioning Goblin Guides and Chieftains definitely points out your age in the game.

Oh, and Goblins were some of the more mana-efficient creatures in their heyday. Not quite to Elf tier, but damn close.

@Lateralis0ne- Or just the fact that he was thinking about standard, because at that time Goblin Guide and Goblin Chieftan and this were all in standard and are all mono-red and Goblins. Seriously, don't get all high and mighty just because you've been playing since you were in diapers.

@Shemhazai_x300 : "It's the closest thing goblins get to a threat" R U SERIOUS?

you've clearly never faced a good goblin deck. If a first turn goblin lackey is not a threat, I don't know what is. if dropping hasted piledrivers for 1 red with goblin warchief isn't a threat, I don't know what is. In fact, there are so much good goblins that this doesn't have a place in competitive play

Hilarious shenanigans abound. Plus, it's a decently sized goblin, so he can help is squishier buddies.

Didn't see it, so I might as well say the obvious. This + Countryside Crusher + Crucible of Worlds = Yay

Not this smartest investment money-wise, but heck, mtg never is.

Not a bad finisher in a casual gobbie deck; once you get him out and sacrifice all your lands to him, all that damage will be hard to stop. Just watch out for Wraths.

Goblins almost never need more than 3 or 4 mana, so sacrificing lands isn't the end of the world. However, the fact that his first ability costs 2 mana makes him a bit too difficult to burst down an opponent in most games. I guess that this is made up for by the +1/+1 counter burn, even though it isn't that strong. He's not the greatest card, but he's different. He's pretty good in the later stages of a game, but he limits some of the more uncommon choice of Goblins, like Zo-Zu, but he can still offer a way to deal damage in the event that an opponent has a way to prevent you from attacking, such as Ensnaring Bridge.
Solid 4/5.
