This time, for the benefit of those who don't get it, I'm just going to try to put out the fire before it starts.

This card is not good. In fact, it's one of the worst commons printed in a while. Posts claiming that it is powerful are not to be taken seriously. For more information, see my comment on Chimney Imp; it's pretty much the same thing.

2 mana to draw a card at instant speed, and it's uncounterable? Well, I guess it's alright. Oh, and if you have 7 mana to spare, it can also turn into a 5/5 beater.

This card can be useful in a few unusual situations. Eg if you have cards in your deck that benefit from revealing cards with a high converted mana cost. Any card with clash, or cards like: Augury Adept, Favor of the Might, Vengeful Rebirth etc

This card is good if you beat someone with it. You can then gloat for the rest of your life because your opponent's deck had to be PURE GARBAGE if it were beaten by this card.

Unless you're using it to fuel a card whose effect is dependent on cmc's, it's way too expensive for a 5/5.

A 5/5 vanilla creature for 5WhiteWhite? No thanks. I think I'd rather play my 5/5 flying, first-striking, lifelinking angel for 3WhiteWhite instead.

Seriously, why bother printing such a useless creature? The Cycling gives it nothing, as there are dozens of better white cards with cycling.

This is among the biggest creatures with Cycling, so... there's that. If you are running a white reanimator deck, by all means use this.

Asafin, i don't think its fair to compare any 5/5 to baneslayer angel. There's no way anything else can win! :D

Comparing this thing to Baneslayer Angel is, in a word, stupid. One is an Mythic Rare, the other is a common that there are about 5 billion of.

It is a plowbeast. The basic cylcling premise is sound, as one would want to get this the hell out of their hand if you drew it early.

White, after green, (due to its mana ramping) should be the color that lives long enough to play this. He's a 5/5 in a block that worships creatures that have 5 or greater power. And the cycling is useful when you have this early in the game.

My point is that he is not particularly good or bad. In drafts he is a very lrage beat stick. And everywhere else he is... well pretty much the same thing. Please note that as of 6/15/2010 there are only 11 mono-white creatures that have a higher power then him. 7 of which have a more color heavy casting cost. That includes the cards that will be released in M11.

That being said, for the same two mana (because that's how he will be used most of the time) I can draw a card AND have a 0/4 on the field. (Wall of Omens)
Yes I realise that one is common and the other is uncommon. But people wouldn't be complaining about this card unless we were talking about constructed. And let's face it, most of us don't make our constructed decks with set numbers of commons and uncommons in them.

I'd compare this to Scornful Egotist more than I'd compare it the the Pimp.

This card is more flavorful in why it gets you land than most other cards with cycling, so I like it for that.
Cycling it and then resurrecting it with Emeria, the Sky Ruin wouldn't be a bad plan. Still, no one will probably run this.

@asaffin: Some cards have to be bad. Otherwise the best cards have to be even better by comparison for them to look like the best, and thus you get Powercreep. Which I'm sure you complain about too.

Once upon a time, I built a deck full of Beasts that cycle and Patriarch's Bidding. This would have fit right in.

Believe me or not, I use this card in a legacy monoblack deck. It awesome in a dedicated deck.

But by itself, it isn't a good card.

Not good, no, but it's the biggest monowhite common creature in the game!

A solid body, with cycling for early game, in a set/shard that cares about 5+ power or a big guy to give exalted. Decent in limited, not great, but decent. Obv not constructed-worthy, unless you have some strange casual deck. I just love people commenting on cards that are clearly for limited as if it shoudl be considered for constructed.....
