Instill Energy

This guy plus Wild Growth and Instill Energy were good mana ramping cards back in the days of Revised. What's nice about this guy, compared to Arbor Elf, is that he can untap lands like Bazaar of Baghdad, Maze of Ith, Mishra's Factory or as already mentioned, Library of Alexandria.

After retiring from the druid office, Herbert attempted to find a part-time career to keep him busy and save money for an RV. His attempt to become a pot farmer ended when it became clear that his grandson had sold him Oregano seeds instead of the real thing.

I have a friend who plays this with Gaea's cradle to great effect, The ability to untap any land makes this a pretty different card from Arbor Elf.

With all the funky lands that would come out, this guy became more useful after the original set he appeared in. Even without those, he can untap a land so you can tap it again for more mana, giving you more variety than just the Llanowar Elves to get out those expensive Green beasties.
