I always thought the picture was of some dude holding back a jelly sandwich. Not that I think about it, looks more like steak on marshmallow on bacon on pancakes. Thankfully the guy looks strong enough. Good card.

Perhaps some sort of strange neopolitan cake?

What he's really doing is pushing away the Mox Jet.

Doesn't really work against things with double strike. As they do damage twice.

rather large mox jet
i actually use story circle instead of this card
-same cmc
-same converted aactivation cost
-prevent ALL DAMAGE
-prevents from burn spells and other non creature sources
-unfortunately you only get to choose 1 colour :(
-and last but not least $95 cheaper!

I'm 99% sure that story about the artist tearing up the kid's card is about this card.

Looks like he's holding up strata layers...

I prefer this over story circle Zirilan. I mean, it requires no colored mana at all, while just playing story circle and activating it once requires 3 white mana. Also, the story circle can't stop colorless damage, or damage from a source of a color different than the one you chose. Sure, story circle is great, but I like this one more.

in the very ealy days (like when legends was the new set out) this thing was worth as much as any mox.
everyone played big fat legends.

This card is insanely good in EDH.
You just can keep on defending against generals or other big creatures with only this card...

try adding a enchantment/ artifact that gives you 1 or more life at the beginning of your upkeep and you would be hard to stop.

Arguably the best OOP from A/B/U that isn't Power 9
(well, excepting the once again ridiculous Time Vault).

This is an *awesome* card in a control or mill deck-
it can save your ass while you collect what you need to win.

Suprised there is no reference to this, but... this thing is a POLYARTIFACT!!!!

OMG

That being said this card is rediculous.

Here, it's actually super cool to put them together.

I am lucky enough to own an Alpha copy of both!

The Plains from Ice Age also connect to make a panorama.

No no no. He is doing a handstand and the art is upside down. You will never un-see that.

This is probably my favourite picture in magic the gathering. Potential combo with Wrath of God or Damnation. You can let your opponents play all their creatures with forcefield in play and then Wrath of God them.

Ineffective against Master of Cruelties. Much like Lim-Dul's Paladin.
