If it did not bounce the creature, it might be useful.

This is one of the many old artifacts that is a precursor to equipment.

It's not so bad if you like to bounce your own allies back to your hand on someone else's turn, notwithstanding the instant nature of the p/t boost.

Use with Nekrataal.

It comes in handy If there are some nasty enchantments on one of your creatures. Works nice with spike colonies aswell. +1/+1 counters galore!

This isn't so bad with "enters the battlefield" triggers. Other than that, it's a classic meh boon with a wtf caveat.

I think the whole appeal of the card is that it does bounce the creature. It's just that the activation cost is too expensive to be worthwhile.

2.5 for being interesting, and potentially very useful. That 'drawback' can very easily be turned into an advantage. A bit expensive though.

There's no other drawback than that it's expensive to use.

The cost is just too much for me to handle. I suppose reusable bounce is nice, but there are easier and cheaper and more combo friendly ways to handle it. But, since I am here anyway: Ball Lightning

The story behind the art of this card was that, a developer at the time had an artist friend who wants to draw a piece for Magic, so they let him try out Crimson Hellkite. Draw an imposing dragon, they said.

Needless to say, the artist took it too literally and the dragon's head took over the whole frame. The developers were displeased but a deal is a deal, so they used the art for Dragon Mask instead.

Rashida Scalebane in the flavor text is a dragon killer, I can only imagine her humiliation when she was asked to wear this mask, lol.

This would be a neat card if it only cost to use. is fine for its casting cost, but is just too much for its activation cost, especially when you're going to want to use it repeatedly and still be able to afford recasting the things it snaps back to your hand.
