I'm sure they intended to make Fire-lit Thicket a twisted copy of Auntie's Hovel; Shadowmoor was a warped version of Lorwyn. The flavor text on the Thicket even alludes to the transformation.

In my opinion, this is the right way to make dual lands. Make it come into play tapped OR have some narrow clause that prevents it. That way, it doesn't force the player to use sub-par lands, and also prevent users from playing these in every single deck.

Perfect flavor. You can see a raging fire in the background about to consume Auntie's Hovel and snuff out all the little goblins.
