sure, there are ways to get the -1/-1 counter off, but what you get in the end is unimpressive.

Not great, but not as bad as you might think. An Edge can turn this guy into a serious threat. I like to throw him out, see what they do to him, then throw an edge on him. 2 damage turning into 5 damage is never fun to see.

The flavor on this card makes no sense: as everyone knows, ghosts are made of ectoplasm. Ectoplasm is nothing like blood, ghosts simply cannot bleed. Its not a part of their biology. Anyone who passed high school knows that. But Mark Rosewater loves this card, so did he pass high school? I doubt if, he desn't undestand ectoplasm. I mean come on, geologically speaking, we've understood this simple concept since at least 1900s. Also.
On the other hand, combos great with dark ritual.

Goes well with stuff like Power Conduit, Quillspike, Hungry Hungry Heifer. And once the -1/-1 counter is gone, you get a flyer that's bigger then either black or white tend to get for 3 mana. Especially black.

What's with all the hate? Sure, the creature's not that good, but the flavor is quite cool. A sorrowful ghost, perfectly capturing that feeling of tainted light/innocence. Looks like it came right out of a ghost film or haunted house. Very emotional. At the very least it's ability provides food for Woeleecher.

She was killed with a magic knife. Magic can do anything, even make ghosts bleed.

Should be a Kithkin Spirit, but it can be argued that once you die your race no longer matters? I guess? Clearly it's a Kithkin girl, as there are no humans in Shadowmoor.

OMG, BalonyPony:
Disregarding your "scientific" analysis of ectoplasm, couldn't this woman have been given that wound before she died? Perhaps it was a mortal wound that rendered her as, *gasp* a ghost??

Not a big fan of this card. I played it because it was a 2/2 Flying for hybrid mana, and the card read incredibly unclean to me (and to a lot of other players who use it simply as a 2/2 Flying).

Flavor-wise, I really like this card. Gameplay-wise, there are certainly better white/black fliers. I still give it a 5/5.
