"Oh you're gonna get it, buddy, I'm gonna own you so hard. I'm gonna take TWO cards outta your hand. Soon...as I...can get to...six...mana...dammit I'm dead."

The 'fixed' mind twist did go too far, but I think this rating is a little harsh. It's bad but it's not 'do nothing' terrible.

Mind Twist is most definitely better, but this card lets you force your opponent to discard any card, most discard spells target nonland cards or have some other restricting condition (Inquisition of Kozilek for example) Still wayyy too expensive.

The art on this one really captures the insanity I'm sure is involved in getting hit by such a spell. A shame that it's pretty horribly overcosted.

Let's face it.

Mind Twist with Variable ColorlessBlack for random discard was undercosted. Mind Shatter with Variable ColorlessBlackBlack for random discard seems to be right.

This is selected discard so, Variable ColorlessBlackBlack or Variable Colorless1Black is undercosted. Do we want people to be able to splash this? If not then Variable Colorless2Black is out and this should cost Variable Colorless1BlackBlack or Variable ColorlessBlackBlackBlack. So this is not horribly overcosted.

I must say, I am the wizard the flavor text is talking about. Hardest of the hard, baby.

5 mana to have them discard 1 card, what a joke.

Possibly the worst discard spell of all time, considering with Twist and Shatter you will be emptying their hand fully most of the time.
Choosing cards is not worth extra mana. Consider Wit's End, Duress, Thoughtseize, pretty much anything over this POS.

It's nowhere near a Mind Twist but it shouldn't be. This is a perfectly playable card that gives an advantage but is not a victory by itself.
