Timeshifting Thirst to black with its abundant creature removal is a bit like bringing owls to Athens.

Timeshifting apathy would have made much more sense.

With the release of Go for the Throat, even this card's very limited usefulness is defunct.

Gives black a way to deal with black creatures, and is therefore worth it.
Edit: Never mind.

For black, this is a terrible creature stopper. More fitting with blue or white. I mean, typical creature stoppers from blacks simply kill the creature often for a cmc of 1.

Useful for black decks that need to disable a creature without killing it.

Well, Thirst has anyway been succeeded by Claustrophobia...

"Hey, big guy. How about we go stomp some goblins?"
"Nyah, I don't really feel like doing anything."

Many people forget that this colorshift was actually a return to black's old tapping abilities from cards like Paralyze and Word of Binding. While I love the flavor of constantly pumping black mana to make a creature more and more melancholy, it is unfortunately outclassed by black's numerous removal spells in the block. It does however give black the ability to deal with black creatures, which is worth something.

All in all, great flavor, fine in limited, but not amazing elsewhere.

This is the timeshifted version of Thirst.
