What sense does it make for spending water mana each turn to CAUSE thirst? is it salt water?

@Vedalken_Arbiter: Going by the illustration, most likely. Also, remember that blue mana is produced by Islands. You don't find that many islands in freshwater.

@Tiggurix:
The river that runs through my town (Ashburton, New Zealand) is freshwater, and it has a lot of islands in it. Both town Domains have duck ponds in them, they are freshwater, and both have islands in them. Not far outside of town is Lake Hood, also freshwater, also has islands. You can find plenty of islands in freshwater.

@A3Kitsune: I think he meant reasonably sized Islands. Like the ones in the ocean.

I dont understand how pumping water into the enchantment keeps the creature thirsty. Does the water torment the creature by being just out of reach? :O

I am really dissapointed about the flavor text. obviously the best option for this card is "Water water everywhere, but not a drop to drink." I mean the card perfectly depicts the torturous pain of the sailor, his desire for water and the pain of eternity.

Its a magic that brings thirst upon a creature, so intense that the creature is rendard useless. The reason why it takes to sustain it because its a powerful enchantment. Blue mana is not water, its blue mana.
That being said, this card is not good. Maby for limited, but theirs allot better ways of getting this effect in blue without draining your mana supply.
